About The Position

The Education and Coaching Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with Head Start performance standards for establishing and implementing a systematic approach to coaching, staff training and ongoing staff professional development designed to assist staff in acquiring or increasing the knowledge and skills need to provide high-quality, comprehensive services. They are responsible for supervising and mentoring the Instructional Coaches. The Education Coordinator will support effective teaching strategies that lead to positive outcomes for children within the context of a collaborative relationship with the instructional coaches. They will be the lead on the annual self-assessment process, comply with all data, and finalize the Self-Assessment Report. The position reports to the Program Director and operates under general supervision with wide latitude for the use of independent judgment, discretion, and initiative.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of related professional experience in social services or related field.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Obtain and keep current adult and pediatric CPR and first aid certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality coaching, guided reflection, training, and technical assistance to Head Start and Early Head Start Instructional Coaches.
  • Implement a research-based, coordinated coaching strategy for Instructional Coaches.
  • Assess all education staff to identify strengths and areas of needed support.
  • Coordinate development with the programs School Readiness Reviews (SRR) and School Readiness Goals.
  • Perform management and administrative functions to ensure delivery of program objectives.
  • Work with community partners to develop initiatives that promote positive community relations.
  • Attend meetings and provide reports to the Board of Directors, Policy Council, or special committees.
  • Travel between sites to complete work and attend meetings.
  • Attend parent meetings and monthly staff meetings as requested.
  • Serve as OWBC/Head Start representative on committees and community groups.
  • Conduct regular visits of Head Start centers to provide on-site consultation.
  • Collaborate with Center Director and Instructional Coaches to ensure classroom initiatives are met.
  • Provide Professional Development for all Head Start staff as required.
  • Plan and facilitate training events in collaboration with Professional Development Coordinator.
  • Analyze teacher assessment data to create a strategic coaching plan.
  • Analyze child outcome data to develop school readiness needs and goals.
  • Coordinate and compile the Head Start inventory list.
  • Lead annual Self-assessment and develop program improvement plans.
  • Maintain and review required documents used by instructional coaches.
  • Ensure active and ongoing communication between the coach, program director, and relevant staff.
