POSITION SUMMARY: The CHOI Program Coordinator plans, develops, implements, and coordinates programs and priorities related directly to childhood health and injury prevention. The program coordinator is responsible for managing financial and capital resources of the current program(s) and obtains grant money to further activities in coordination with CHOI Development Office and external funding sources. The CHOI Program Coordinator works with Children's Hospital of Illinois (CHOI) departments and community organizations to promote CHOI programs and ensure service excellence. Working with diverse populations, this person demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care that is appropriate to the diversity of the individuals served.

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least one year work experience in Program Management or Community Health required in order to gain expertise necessary to develop and implement programs, evaluate outcomes, and develop leadership skills necessary to effectively lead and direct the work of others.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with individuals of varied educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Must be comfortable speaking in public, facilitating groups, and demonstrating problem solving ability.
  • Analytical skills necessary to develop recommendations for injury prevention programs based on information provided by community groups, CHOI Advisory Board, and CHOI Executive Council.
  • Organizational skills necessary to coordinate and assign work to volunteers.
  • Ability to write and present proposals for development and funding of the program.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint.
