About The Position

The Coordinator, Career Services is responsible for planning and coordinating the activities and operations of the career services office. Provides comprehensive career services and programs, including instruction to assist students in developing, evaluating, and effectively initiating and engaging fully in the career discernment process. Pursues and promotes relationships between business and industry employers and the College to enhance the job opportunities for students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; extensive experience in related field may be considered in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling, instruction and assistance to students concerning all aspects of career planning and placement: assist in researching and assessing various career opportunities; refer students to appropriate reference materials in the career library and provide orientation to/assistance with use of related library resources; review and edit resumes and professional letters; and so forth.
  • Develop and maintain a library of career and vocational information, including information on employment trends.
  • Compile and/or write career planning/job search guidelines and other pertinent instructional and promotional materials.
  • Prepare/present seminars on career planning, resume writing, job search skills, and interviewing techniques to educate students.
  • Lead career exploration courses for prospective and current students to assist with career goals.
  • Assist with student advising and registration process, orientation and other student and community activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with area career centers, chambers of commerce, employers, and other agencies to facilitate the referral and employment of students.
  • Coordinate employer visits and on-campus student job/mock interviews.
  • Work in cooperation with the community to enhance employment opportunities for students.
  • Responsible for maintaining employment listings for students and graduates.
  • Responsible for career and technical related surveys, records, and reports, including the 180 Day Follow Up Study of career and technical graduates.
  • Attend Career and Technical program advisory committee meetings as appropriate.
  • Coordinate Career Fairs for all campus locations.
  • Manage, coordinate, publicize, and advise students about job recruiting activities.
  • Oversee on-line web page for Career Services Office, working closely with the Communications department.
  • Develop strong relationships and partners with college departments and faculty to build upon past success and develop new initiatives.
  • Develop and manage departmental planning and budget.
