About The Position

The Coordinator, Care Operations position at MemorialCare is designed to support the efficiency of healthcare services across various departments, including Utilization Review, Social Work Services, and Palliative Care. This role is integral to fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center and requires active participation in performance improvement and patient safety activities. The Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director, Clinical Resources, and will be responsible for administrative tasks that enhance the quality of care provided to patients. The position emphasizes collaboration with discharge planners, nursing personnel, and social workers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and improve patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • 2 years' experience in a Hospital, Medical Group, Utilization Review Department, or other healthcare-related service.
  • Highly proficient in administrative/clerical skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall administrative support for assigned service areas including Utilization Review, Social Work Services, and Palliative Care.
  • Conducts departmental auditing, accounts payable, daily/monthly schedules, and coordination of meetings and office activities.
  • Generates daily patient assignments for the Utilization Review department, assigning RN Care Managers patient caseloads.
  • Develops and maintains systems and databases to support department needs and analytics.
  • Assists with project plans to identify key issues and improve performance metrics.
  • Effectively communicates with all levels of hospital staff to facilitate positive patient outcomes.
  • Participates in departmental activities and functions as a key contact for various services.
  • Maintains compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations.
  • Assists in assessing service area challenges and collaborates on solutions.
  • Maintains regulatory accreditation and administrative operation documentation.
  • Triages phone calls/messages for RN Case Managers for clinical reviews.
  • Demonstrates punctuality and adherence to company policies.
  • Interacts positively and constructively with colleagues.
  • Prioritizes and multitasks effectively.
