About The Position

The Advancement team cultivates, solicits, and stewards individuals, as well as foundation, government and corporate partners who invest in the Society to drive impact through science, technology, education, exploration, and storytelling. The team collaborates with Society teams – and often works closely with NGP/Disney – to build transformative and impact-driven strategic partnerships. The team also produces global events that deepen connections and leverage the Society’s power to convene, and directs robust annual, major and planned giving programs empowering the Society with a broad base of public support. The Coordinator, Campaign Engagement and Marketing provides critical support for the Vice President, Campaign Engagement and Marketing and assists with general administration for Campaign Engagement & Marketing at the National Geographic Society. Your Impact Responsibilities Include Administrative Support (40%) Completing travel and expense reports for the Vice President; Coordinating with the Executive Assistant to the Chief Advancement Officer, as appropriate; Drafting and proofreading correspondence; Proofreading proposals and plans; Supporting donor events, as necessary; Arranging donor visits to NGS headquarters; Assisting with campaign meeting scheduling and logistics; Serve as a first point of contact for internal and external inquiries. Support for Campaign (50%) Compiling and distributing executive briefing materials ahead of donor and prospect meetings; Managing the production of in-house mailings and some stewardship fulfillment; Attending Campaign meetings and maintain scheduling and follow up; Compiling donor and prospect packets for Gift Officer meetings. Team Support (10%) Coordinate all gift acknowledgements for major gifts for the full Advancement team; Support Special Projects with gifting and maintaining Advancement’s gift inventory; Support the annual internship program on behalf of Advancement, closely supporting the Advancement Leadership Team and CAO; Coordinates team meeting agendas and assists with project management platform Monday.com); Other administrative duties as assigned to support overall advancement and campaign efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years professional work experience preferred; past Advancement experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary with a demonstrated ability to write effectively for business/philanthropic communication purposes.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and G-Suites
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality.
  • Proactive and professional demeanor when interacting with NGS staff, senior executives, high net worth individuals, and donors.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge database system strongly preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and work with minimum of instruction and supervision when necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling professional and congenial interactions.
