About The Position

The Biomedical technician I is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, maintaining and verifying accuracy of all infusion delivery devices at Jefferson Home Infusion Service (JHIS). The Biomedical Technician I uses appropriate equipment and complies with policies and procedures, including infusion pump analyzers maintenance and inventory control electronic records.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates ability to navigate appropriate and necessary software systems unique to the department.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Biomedical training that includes a minimum of 100 hours
  • 1 to 3 years of prior experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and sanitizing infusion related equipment returned from patient use. Includes but not limited to ambulatory infusion pumps, related accessories and storage pouches.
  • Maintains electronic inventory and preventative maintenance records in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Performs diagnostic, functional and flow rate testing to assure infusion equipment is accurate and ready for patient use.
  • Processing of biohazardous and chemotherapy waste for transport and destruction by third party vendors.
  • Coordination with third party vendors to repair equipment that is beyond the scope of the biomedical technician.
  • Coordination with JHIS staff to facilitate return of equipment from patients.
  • Day to day oversight of part time bio medical technician staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
