About The Position

The Back Office Coordinator - RN supports and coordinates daily operations and workflow, clinical and back office processes, and personnel. Performs duties as a Registered Nurse.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Associate of Nursing from an accredited program
  • Minimum: One (1) year of experience in direct patient care delivery as a nurse
  • Registered Nurse license valid within the state of Indiana
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program
  • Preferred: One (1) year previous medical office experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform the duties and responsibilities of a licensed or certified clinical provider within the scope of responsibilities and licensing body. This may include, but is not limited to rooming patients, drawing blood, taking vital signs, entering data, and documenting in the patient record.
  • Coordinate the duties and schedule of back office support staff.
  • Delegate duties appropriately and provide shift leadership of back office support staff while performing similar duties.
  • Take initiative to complete unassigned tasks.
  • Ensure a smooth operation of the medical practice, answer phones, perform telephone triage, answer questions, assist with information gathering, communicate and implement physician/provider orders and assist staff as required in daily duties.
  • Acts as a liaison between providers and staff and acts as a resource to the staff.
  • Floats between back office, triage office and front desk as necessary. May assist with phone calls, authorizations, walk-ins and scheduling.
  • Relay performance and operational issues regarding clinical staff to the manager for appropriate follow-up.
  • Assist to improve workflows.
  • Conduct and oversee training of others on specific processes or programs, such as supplies, data entry, timekeeping, and compliance.
  • Ensure par levels of medical and clerical supplies are maintained. Coordinate the stocking of received supplies and materials.
  • Maintain waiting rooms, exam rooms and back office area.
  • Contribute information and feedback regarding practice employee performance to the manager.
  • Gather patient assessment information relating to patient’s learning and education ability, patient education and patient family education as needed.
  • Assess and document patient condition to the specifications of the physician/provider and written policies and procedures.
  • Determine appropriate intervention(s). Report changes in patient condition to physician accurately and timely.
  • Document all actions taken in patient medical records in a timely manner. Ensure legible and required signature authenticated documentation to maintain complete medical records.
  • Arrange diagnostic testing, specialist appointments and hospital admissions as required.
  • Perform phlebotomy, administer injections, immunizations, special procedures and complete laboratory testing in compliance with written policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
