Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Coordinator, APEX is an advising position through a federal, state and locally grant-funded economic development program, APEX Accelerator, locally hosted by College of DuPage's Business Development Center. The role would serve in the capacity of administering the services under the grant, provides advising for government contracting including initial and ongoing counseling to those small businesses which seek to sell products and services to local, state, and federal government agencies. The Coordinator empowers businesses to prepare and position for government contracting by providing training in market research, networking/outreach initiatives, prospecting bids, proposal preparation, providing information regarding socio-economic certifications and providing ongoing training and support in alignment with APEX grant requirements. This position advises external small business clients through the federally funded APEX Accelerator program; it does not directly interact with College of DuPage academic departments or students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • At least one (1) years of experience in management of programs in a training environment required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business preferred.
  • (2) Two years of experience in commercial or governmental contracting or small business activities preferred.
  • Emphasis on sales, public relations and/or marketing preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide business counseling to clients preparing to enter or expand within the government marketplace.
  • Conduct market and procurement research within local, state, and federal systems, including bid history, market assessments, and award analysis.
  • Identify, interview, and recommend subject-matter experts and resource providers as instructors and referral partners.
  • Develop, schedule, and implement annual program planning strategies, including organizing resources and sequencing seminars and workshops related to government contracting at all levels.
  • Develop, schedule, and deliver seminars, workshops, and conferences on APEX Accelerator-related and government contracting topics.
  • Attend required training sessions and staff meetings as mandated by the APEX Accelerator grant or Program Manager.
  • Assist the APEX Manager in developing program goals, budgets, and performance outcomes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
