Learn more at HonorHealth.com. Job Summary This position provides first line supervision of Anesthesia/Equipment Techs and Operating Room Assistants in the performance of their assigned daily duties. The coordinator is responsible for directing, planning, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating all aspects of equipment used in the Operating Room. Interfaces with Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Operating Room Leaders, Staff and Biomed Teams to provide excellent customer service and safe, timely, efficient and high-quality care. Serves as the to-go-to person on all matters related to equipment used in the Operating Room. Provides and/or facilitates required training on all equipment prior to use. Facilitates proper, timely and compliant maintenance and repair of equipment. Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the department in accordance with guidelines/policies. May serve as Laser Safety Officer.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED - Required
  • 3 years Surgical Technologist (Ortho and/or Neuro) or Anesthesia Tech or Equipment Tech Experience Stealth Operator - Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Current Basic Life Support - Required
  • Stealth operator, Laser operator 1 Year - Required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Health Care, Biomed or Related Field - Preferred
  • 1 to 2 years' Leadership experience preferred - Preferred
  • 5 years Surgical Technologist (Ortho and/or Neuro) or Anesthesia Tech or Equipment Tech Experience Stealth Operator - Preferred
  • Anesthesia Tech, Scrub Tech - Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervises designated healthcare professionals to assure efficient functioning through principled leadership, effective and timely communication, accurate documentation and with the goal of providing safe, timely, quality patient care in a fiscally responsible manner. Plans, establishes, and revises work assignments and schedules based on department needs. Interviews, selects, and hires personnel. Completes changes in classification, salary action, promotion, demotion, transfer, and termination. Administers performance evaluation in collaboration with the Director. Verifies staff clinical competency and certifications. Reviews and approves time and attendance records. Collaborate with system educators in developing accurate competencies for all staff. Facilitates vendor education of staff. Supports a culture where risk is recognized and escalated in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Facilitates daily Operating Room cleaning and Terminal Cleaning in accordance with established guidelines/policies.
  • Facilitates timely, proper and compliant equipment maintenance and repairs for all equipment including Stealth Navigation, Lasers, Hana Tables, Phaco/Vitrectomy Machines, Robots, Cell Saver, Anesthesia Machines, Difficult Airway Management Equipment, Positioning Devices and Aids, and any new equipment added. Share best practices, equipment, staffing, supplies and processes with peers across Network to promote consistency, collaboration and standardization. Troubleshoots specialty OR equipment. Partners with appropriate stakeholders to promote departmental safety. Provides input into departmental capital equipment considerations. Obtain needed quotations. Support Network initiatives around standardization of Equipment and supplies. Ensures necessary equipment is available and operational prior to stat of cases.
