About The Position

The Coordinator will provide guidance and assist in the leadership of the advanced practice providers. The Coordinator will work with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to develop workflows, plans, and quality metrics relevant to organizational programs. The Coordinator provides direct advanced practice care and service to patients as allowed by scope of practice and Memorial Medical Staff bylaws.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with successful completion of a Masters in Nursing Program and NP Program, or graduate from an Accredited Physician Assistant Program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
  • Currently licensed to practice professional nursing in the state of Mississippi as a Nurse Practitioner or certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current National Provider Number (NPI).
  • 3 years Clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Providing care appropriate to the age of patients served
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills necessary to provide appropriate patient care
  • Excellent oral, and written communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the oversight and staffing of advanced practice providers
  • Provides guidance and materials to new providers during the orientation process
  • Assists leadership with staffing needs and onboarding of new employees
  • Completes performance appraisals as delegated, and assists with training of existing staff as necessary
  • Participates in various committees as requested by area leadership
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of education and improved workflows to assure effective day-to-day operations
  • Identifies staff educational needs; develops, prepares, and implements education in formal and informal settings based on identified learning needs in coordination with the department manager
  • Establishes goals and expectations for educational teams based on organizational and departmental objectives
  • Monitors educational plans to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, regulatory and accreditation agencies
  • Provides/facilitates orientation and in-service programs to staff and ensures completion of all initial and ongoing requirements
  • Participates in patient chart audits, as required, and reviews quality metrics to evaluate clinical effectiveness
  • Analyzes data, researches issues, and appropriately addresses with staff to achieve department/hospital goals
  • Evaluates effectiveness and appropriateness of programs offered
  • Assures development and maintenance of appropriate policies, procedures, clinical practice agreements, and quality assurance programs as it relates to area of responsibility
  • Provides direct advanced practice care and patient services
  • Provides patient care, physical and psychosocial examinations as allowed by the scope of practice
  • Performs advanced procedures, evaluates patient medication regimen, and prescribes pharmacological agents as allowed by federal and state laws, under the supervision of a physician
  • Communicates patient and family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider
  • Provides frequent on-call support for departmental needs
