About The Position

Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programmer The Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programmer is responsible for developing, writing, and maintaining CMM programs. Creates instructional setups for inspection of precision machined and sheet metal components and clearly communicates CMM inspection results to quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, production, engineering, CNC programmers, etc. Coordinates with Calibration Technician, MBAI IT and vendor/manufacturers for software and hardware updates, calibration, and maintenance. Develops methods of inspecting in-house and supplier-machined parts, fabricated sheet metal components, controlled inspection/production tooling and performs such inspections and applicable tests to verify manufactured goods conform to applicable drawings, standards, and specifications. Completes all applicable documentation and reports associated with the inspection performed. Responsibilities: In this role, you are responsible for developing, validating, and maintaining CMM and Keyence inspection programs across all software platforms. This includes creating new programs, revising existing ones based on part number or specification updates, and troubleshooting issues encountered by operators. You also design and document inspection setups using CAD models, sample parts, and applicable standards, while selecting the appropriate precision measurement equipment for each task. Additionally, you perform validation activities for new and revised programs, support MRB and FAI data collection, and assist machine shop personnel with self-inspection techniques. Beyond technical programming and inspection duties, you play a key role in supporting and elevating the broader quality organization. You provide training, mentoring, and on‑the-job guidance to inspectors and new employees, covering inspection methods, equipment usage, SAP processes, and CMM operation. You collaborate closely with Supervision, Management, Engineering, and Quality Planning to standardize inspection practices, identify offline inspection features, and ensure accurate interpretation of drawings, specifications, and military standards. You also develop surface plate layout techniques, coordinate inspection requirements, and complete AS9102 forms for the Inspector A Lab.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 8 years of inspection experience.
  • Three years of CMM programming experience.
  • Formal GD&T training

Nice To Haves

  • Formal CMM training with ZEISS CALYPSO and Modus is preferred
