Manages the department budget related to surgical instruments. Ensures clear communication regarding budget adherence to meet entity requirements. Proposes budget modifications for inventory replacements and additional inventory needs. Collaborates with department leaders to design and implement plans for managing: Instrument purchasing Medical device purchasing Product inventory Manages the instrument and device repair and maintenance program. Provides onsite support and communication to procedural area leaders to help achieve hospital cost savings. Ensures surgical tools are properly functioning for their intended clinical use. Collaborates with entity leadership to standardize instrument trays across the entity and system where applicable. Works with system and entity leaders to standardize: Surgical count sheets Physician preference cards Tray configurations Inventory lists Designs and implements process improvement plans related to these standardization efforts. Serves as a department resource for reviewing and improving instrument care and handling processes. Leads departmental efforts for maintenance and updates to the instrument tracking system when assigned. Supports regulatory readiness by ensuring the availability and maintenance of required sterilization assurance materials and supplies. Assists in the development and maintenance of sterilization policies and procedures. Participates in the evaluation of products, supplies, and equipment related to instrument trays for designated service lines. Coordinates site-specific semiannual tray reviews with service line leaders and physicians in the operating room. Demonstrates strong knowledge of sterile technique principles and infection control practices. Maintains and supports a sterile environment through appropriate procedures. Performs other related duties as required.
