About The Position

The Coordinator of Patient Flow in the Emergency Department (ED) is a registered professional nurse responsible for overseeing shift operations, including staffing, patient flow activities, and patient care. This role involves ensuring quality patient care, compliance with regulations, and efficient management of resources while promoting a collaborative environment among healthcare teams. The position requires strong leadership skills to enhance patient throughput and satisfaction while maintaining financial performance and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Valid RN License required.
• Minimum 3 years of nursing practice in an Emergency Department or applicable healthcare experience.
• Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Sufficient clinical and leadership experience to lead others.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course preferred within 180 days of hire.
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course preferred within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee patient flow in the Emergency Department, ensuring timely placement and efficient throughput.
• Serve as a liaison between various departments to coordinate patient care and flow.
• Monitor and maintain the ED tracking board for all patients.
• Provide feedback on patient throughput performance to the ED team.
• Evaluate healthcare delivery processes and participate in performance improvement projects.
• Assist in departmental emergency preparedness and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among healthcare providers and staff.
