About The Position

Reporting to local supervisor or manager of the sterile processing department, position provides departmental oversight of instrument procurement, repair, replacement, and refurbishment. Supports procedural areas service line coordinators with making modifications to instrument sets, adding, removing, implementing, and exempting, as necessary. Modifies count sheets in SPM as needed. Functions as liaison between purchasing and sterile processing department, assists with invoice reconciliation and outstanding receivables when needed. Facilitates repair of flexible and rigid scopes with appropriate vendor, obtains loaners when needed. Maintains detailed records of purchases and other tasks, following up and communicating regularly. Position functions to ensure instruments required for surgical procedures are in working order. Serves as integral part of sterile processing leadership team to provide high levels of customer service to providers, clinicians, and staff. What you will do Key Role/Responsibility Performs basic clerical and administrative functions on unit. (PC, multi-line phone, fax, copiers) Places work orders with biomed, facilities management, environmental services as needed. Functions as department point of contact for vendors. Key Role/Responsibility Maintains count sheets in SPM instrument management database. Generates SPM reports on a regular basis and ad-hoc. Adheres to established par levels for peg board and other stock items. Monitors outstanding receivables and open orders, following up with purchasing. Assists with capital planning by obtaining quotes from various vendors. Key Role/Responsibility Establishes tracking system for monitoring outstanding orders, follows up with purchasing/vendor. Obtains price quotes and enters requisitions for instrument and specialty purchases. Functions as resource for clinical service line coordinators with ordering specialty instruments. Facilitates repair or refurbishment of various surgical instruments and equipment.

Requirements

  • Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma General or GED General or Completion of Accredited Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology program Required
  • Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor CRCST - Cert Reg Central Service Tech or CSPDT - Cert Sterile Proc & Distribution Tech
  • Required Minimum Experience: Education clarification: Completion of a sterile processing or surgical technology program. Required
