About The Position

The Cooking School Chef at Harmons Grocery is responsible for managing the Cooking School department, serving as a brand ambassador, and teaching customers culinary skills and techniques. This role involves overseeing operations, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards, and delivering excellent customer service through hands-on cooking demonstrations and events. The chef will also develop recipes and work to improve the Cooking School's performance and sales.

Requirements

  • Culinary experience with a focus on food preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Associate's degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience.
  • TIPS Certification and Food Handler's Permit.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask while teaching and managing operations.
  • Experience in catering private events and banquets.
  • Knowledge of culinary sanitation and hygiene, kitchen safety, and food presentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience mentoring or training others in a culinary setting.
  • Passion for food and customer service.
  • Ability to handle conflict professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operations of the Cooking School department under the direction of the Store Director.
  • Ensure the Cooking School is clean, well-maintained, and meets company standards of appearance.
  • Work closely with the Cooking School Coordinator to oversee business and front-of-house operations.
  • Oversee, train, and guide the Cooking School Instructor Sous Chef.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while teaching hands-on demonstrations and hosting private events.
  • Develop recipes for use in the Cooking School and elsewhere within Harmons.
  • Work to continually improve Cooking School performance and sales.
  • Effectively market and sell Harmons' products.
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Stay within inventory and budgeted projections, contributing to the company's gross profit goals.
  • Communicate effectively and work closely with the Cooking School Coordinator and Store Director.
