About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our team at Martha O'Bryan Early Learning Center. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing 2 nutritious meals and snack for children ages 1 year-5 years, ensuring that all dietary needs and CACFP(Child and Adult Food Program) guidelines are met. The Cook will create a positive dining experience while promoting healthy eating habits. The meal service will be for approximately 75-100 students each day.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or relevant experience preferred.
• Previous experience in food preparation, preferably in childcare or educational setting.
• Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs for young children, specifically CACFP (Child and Adult Food Program) guidelines.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, children, and families.
• Passion for promoting healthy eating and positive food experiences for children and families.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook daily meals and snacks in accordance with established menus and CACFP (Child and Adult Food Program) dietary guidelines.
• Ensure all meals are nutritious, appealing, and meet the developmental needs of children.
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
• Plan menus that accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and cultural preferences.
• Collaborate with staff to promote and encourage healthy eating habits among children.
• Monitor food inventory, order food and supplies weekly and minimize food waste.
• Maintain accurate records of meals served, including portion sizes and ingredients used for meal preparation.
• Participate in special events, such as celebrations and seasonal activities, by providing themed meals or snacks.
• Prepare meals for the clients of Martha O'Bryan as needed.
