About The Position

THE OAKS AT PLEASANT GAP PART TIME COMPETITIVE RATES PLUS OTHER GREAT BENEFITS! The Oaks at Pleasant Gap, a personal care and independent living community, is actively seeking candidates for a Cook. This position will prepare food in conjunction with guidelines to assure that quality food service is provided at all time.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Knowledge of dietary procedures pertaining to nursing home operations preferred.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift or move a minimum of 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews menus prior to preparation of food.
  • Inspects special diet trays to ensure they are correct.
  • Performs administrative requirements and submits them to the Dining Services Manager.
  • Coordinates dietary services with other departments.
  • Assist in standardizing the methods by which work will be accomplished.
  • Process diet changes and new diets as received from nursing services with the dietary instruction slips.
  • Assist in establishing food service production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared on time.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
  • Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
  • Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
  • Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus.
  • Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.
  • Assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
  • Make only authorized food substitutions.
  • Assist in food preparation for special meals for parties, etc.
