About The Position

CentraState Medical Center has an employment opportunity available for a Cook . The Cook assists in the production of attractive, palatable, and therapeutically correct foods for patients and employees. This role also includes supporting all special food functions, ensuring that meals meet both quality standards and dietary requirements. Type: Regular Part-time (4 days = 30hrs/week); ability to pick up additional shift available. Hours: 2-days 6a-2p, 2-days 11a-7p. Occassional coverage of 4a-12p. Every other weekend required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years of culinary school or training preferred.
  • At least two years of quantity cooking experience required; preferred in a hospital, restaurant, or hotel.
  • Supervisory experience in therapeutic cooking preferred.
  • Basic command of English language (speaking, reading, writing) and basic math skills required to ensure correct performance in duties, understanding and following instructions, dietary restrictions, etc for patient, resident and employee safety.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team and customers.
  • Must be able to adapt to circumstances that arise and be able to make decisions quickly to problem solve any issues that may develop.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains needed supplies from storeroom freezer, etc. to complete daily assignments.
  • Ensures standardized recipes are used in preparation of all menu items.
  • Inspects and tastes food for quality, presentation, and adherence to menu.
  • Works closely with the chef/senior cook in preparation and blast chilling of foods.
  • Prepares food for special functions.
  • Assists with inventory and projected orders, prepares and places food and supply orders as assigned.
