About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment while preparing delicious meals that cater to the dietary needs of our residents. Your culinary expertise will play a crucial role in enhancing our residents' dining experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of cooking experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
- Ability to read and follow technical procedures and recipes effectively.
- Proficient in applying mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
- Must obtain and maintain a ServSafe Certificate.
- Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred.
Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook a variety of meals in large quantities, following prepared menus and portion control guidelines.
- Accurately prepare special diets and pureed foods as required.
- Safety & Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and cooking areas, adhering to safety and sanitation standards.
- Monitor food temperatures and maintain proper quaternary solution levels in sanitizer buckets.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work harmoniously with staff across all departments to ensure smooth meal service.
- Assist in serving meals and maintaining a welcoming dining atmosphere.
- Report resident care concerns and potential issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nurses.
- Training & Supervision: Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
- Supervise kitchen staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, ensuring all cleaning schedules and procedures are followed.
- Presentation: Strive to make food presentation appealing to residents, enhancing their dining experience.
