About The Position

Oak Plains Academy (UHS Company) is a comprehensive and highly structured 98-bed residential treatment program offering psychiatric residential treatment services to children and adolescents, struggling with emotional and behavioral issues. Residents receive an individualized treatment plan, geared to meet their personal needs. A professional team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, nurses, and teachers serve hundreds of children and adolescents annually with the common goal of treating and healing trauma and building resiliency in the residents we serve. Located in Ashland City on 20 acres of rolling hills in a rural setting, about 45 minutes from Nashville, Tennessee, Oak Plains Academy campus features a full-size gymnasium, dining hall, separate academic building, and four dormitories. This Entry Level Cook position is part-time with flexible shifts, and the successful candidate will be passionate about making a difference in the lives of young individuals through nutrition. Requirements

  • Knowledge of food safety practices and food guidelines.
  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with staff and residents.
  • Valid Driver's License or valid photo state ID.
  • Must be the age of 21 years old or over.
  • Successful background check, fingerprinting and employment verification.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to dietary guidelines.
  • Ensure food safety standards are met during food handling and preparation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Collaborate with dietary staff to plan menus that meet the nutritional needs of residents.
  • Support the dietary department in inventory management and food ordering.
  • Provide excellent service during meal times, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Assist with meal preparation tasks as needed.
  • Follow all health regulations and company policies regarding food service.
