About The Position

The Cook is responsible for quality production of resident food, paying close attention to resident likes, dislikes and allergies. The Cook conducts freezer and storeroom inventory. In the absence of the supervisor, the Cook will oversee production, service and cleanup of the kitchen.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds regularly and push individuals who weigh up to 200 pounds in wheelchairs.
  • Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Must be able to stay awake for the entire shift.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food for residents according to specified textures and portion sizes.
  • Consults cook’s worksheets for assignments and coordinates
  • Keeps food at proper temperatures as assigned
  • Records dish machine temperature
  • Records resident meal tallies
  • Fills out substitution list as required
  • Assists new associates with on-the-job training
  • Washes dishes and pots and pans
  • Washes and puts away own knives and blenders
  • Receives, checks in, and stores supplies and groceries
  • Advises supervisors of any malfunctioning equipment
  • Sweeps and mops kitchen area floor as assigned
  • Takes out trash and steam clean trash cans
  • Cleans sprinkler heads within department
  • Washes walls, ceilings and performs other heavy cleaning duties
