About The Position

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Part-Time Cook for the Birmingham Area Command, located in Birmingham, AL paying $12 an hour. Please read hours and description before applying: Must be flexible. The dining hall is open 7 days a week from 5am - 7pm. We have Cooks and Kitchen Assistants working during those times. This position is responsible for : Plans, prepares, cooks and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules. We cook about 250-300 meals a day. Cooks need to be able to cook whole meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
One year experience cooking food for large groups, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification within 21 days of hire
Applicable state, local and/or program contract certifications or licenses

Responsibilities
