About The Position

Banner Health is seeking a Cook to join their Culinary Services team at Banner North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado. This role is crucial in ensuring the best care for patients by preparing fresh, hot foods for both patients and staff. The North Colorado Medical Center is a 378-bed Level II trauma center and acute care facility with over 3000 employees, providing a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services. The Cook will be responsible for producing all required food items based on production sheets, catering requests, and prep sheets, planning and conducting daily work to meet food production and service time requirements. The position is full-time, 32 hours/week, with varied shift times including 5am-1:30pm, 6am-2:30pm, 10:45am-7:15pm, or 11:30am-8pm, and requires weekend and holiday rotations.

Requirements

Knowledge and abilities in institutional food production normally acquired with one or more years of work experience in production cooking.
Able to learn and follow established policies and procedures.
Able to read and understand written and verbal instruction.
Communicate effectively.
Perform simple math calculations.
Able to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required.
Possess good interpersonal skills.
Able to perform tasks within limited time frames.
Able to follow production and cleaning schedules.
Use chemicals safely.
Read thermometers.
Follow safety requirements.
For Banner Staffing Services (BSS) team members, the food handlers' card is required within 30 days of hire (not for BSS team members in Tucson and Colorado).
Must be 18 yrs of age or older to comply with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requirements as the role may be expected to set up, operate and/or repair power-driven bakery and meat processing machines.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
Employees working at Olive Branch Senior Center must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Additional related education and/or experience.
Prior grill cook experience.
Experience in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Prepares and cooks hot and cold food items using standardized recipes and calculates production quantities based on production forecast, tally sheets and catering orders.
May be assigned to work in the retail cafe grill area, and/or cook breakfast items.
Records over production and run outs. Writes directions and calculates production quantities.
Checks and logs food and equipment temperatures and reports any problems to the supervisor. Reports all needed equipment repair.
Maintains par levels of food and supplies in assigned areas, orders and/or restocks items in accordance with established routines, rotates food stocks, checks freshness dates.
Keeps assigned work areas clean and in an orderly manner.
Assists other kitchen and dietary staff as needed and assigned. May oversee the scheduled shift for efficiency.
Department responsibilities only, normally deals with internal staff. May deal with customers in grill or exhibition position in retail units. Follows established procedures, recipes and work routines under general supervision.
