About The Position

You will also play a key role maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen/food-prep space for your team members. Team Impact In this position, you will be an important member of the Nutrition Services/Kitchen team. You will play a crucial customer service-based, and operational role within the kitchen by taking ownership of tasks such as careful preparing of patient, staff and vendor meals. By preparing meals for our patients that exceed their expectations, you can have a meaningful positive impact on their stay at Glens Falls Hospital. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Ability to interpret recipes, measure and weigh items
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently at one time
  • Ability to communicate with fellow production staff, servers and managers about ingredients for recipes and quality of product

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year culinary degree preferred
  • No experience required, however 2 years cooking, or kitchen experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated high regard for sanitation
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment preferred
  • ServSafe certification is a plus and will be required within 6 months of hire. This will be provided by and paid for by Glens Falls Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients by chopping, slicing, grinding, and mixing
  • Follow standardized recipes to cook, mix and bake food products utilizing ovens, fryers, steam kettles, tilting braising skillets and other foodservice equipment
  • Ensure accuracy of items and controls cost by measuring and weighing items
  • Utilize and properly rotates any over production of food items
  • Pan up items for patient and cafeteria lines and maintains appropriate amounts throughout meals
  • Portion food according to inventory standards
