About The Position

The Cook is responsible for preparation/cooking of foods and to provide our residents with all of their meals and/or snacks in a sanitary and safe manner adhering to all policies and procedures of the facility while focusing on customer service and satisfaction. Cook provides our residents with all of their meals in a sanitary and safe manner adhering to all policies and procedures of the facility and New York State Department of Health codes while focusing on customer service and satisfaction. Cook uses proper dining room service for the residents and/or family members. Proper “in kitchen” preparation and cleaning in regard to the station assigned to you. Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Prepare all foods adhering to all NY State codes and regulations for sanitation, storage and temperature

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of two years experience and training in food preparation in a health care facility or related food service operation. At least 1 year experience as a cook in a health care setting desired.
  • Completion of an approved sanitation course or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have a full knowledge of all sanitary codes and all menu production methods.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an approved sanitation course or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 1 year experience as a cook in a health care setting desired.
