About The Position

Crouse Health offers a full range of general and specialty care, inpatient and outpatient services and community health education and outreach programs. Crouse's Nutritional Services Department oversees the all hospital cafeteria services as well as preparation and serving of patient meals that are nutritionally adequate, following appropriate diet modifications as prescribed by their medical provider. The Nutritional Services team is hiring a Cook. The Cook prepares, cooks and packs food for all hospital functions. In addition, this role will provide catering services throughout the hospital, as requested.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Culinary Arts or a related field.
  • Or High School diploma with 2 years experience in short order or restaurant cooking. Each year of culinary school will be equivalent to 2 years of work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Properly prepares food in accordance with departmental prep sheets and as directed by department leadership.
  • Accurately prepares food orders as requested by patients on the At Your Request Meal Ticket.
  • Proactively assists the department leadership in meal planning and preparation. This includes researching costs of food items and assigning charges to catering menus.
  • Consistently follows recipes correctly and complies to departmental standards. Ensures all foods are cooked, prepared and held at proper temperatures.
