About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Prepares and presents high quality food within specified time frame for patient and retail services. Properly follows safe food handling procedures. Takes customerâ€s orders and prepare the order according to recipe, keeping in mind additional customer specifications or dietary needs.

Requirements

  • 6 months healthcare or restaurant facility.
  • Illinois Food Safety Sanitation Certification (or within 1 year of hire). Anyone hired into the Cook position at Saint Francis Medical Center (Peoria, IL) prior to 9/1/2020 is to be considered grandfathered and exempt from this requirement.
  • FSSC-Food Service and Sanitation Certification
  • Heart of Mary Medical Center (HMMC) & Motherhouse - Does not require Cooks to have FSSMC or the CFPM certifications. At these locations, cooks must have Food Handler Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Know basic math skills and follow instructions.
  • Must be willing and capable of working in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED Culinary Degree
  • 2 years of experience as a cook in a healthcare facility.
