Maintain proper sanitary levels throughout food preparation, service and storage and of equipment and work areas and utilizing interventions appropriate to meet the needs of the residents and the facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Follows and executes department practices, procedures, safety regulations, guidelines and follows policies that will effectively maintain food service program and services for Heritage. Possesses working knowledge of cooking fundamentals such as stock, soups, braising, roasting and sauté. Coordinates cooking of foods to ensure quality products for established meal service times and prepares meals for residents, employees and visitors according to written menu, established recipes, production sheets and food handling procedures. Follows Food Serve Safe guidelines and ensures all food handling and sanitation is in conjunction with local and corporate health and sanitation requirements. Inspects kitchen and all service areas on a daily basis to ensure that the areas, including walls, floors, and surrounding areas and equipment are maintained in accordance with established policies and procedure and all hazardous areas are properly identified. Reports all accidents/incidents to your supervisor. Adheres to Universal Precautions and Infection Control Policies, including following established hand washing procedures, use of appropriate PPE and supplies when handling infectious materials and follows established policies governing the use/disposal of PPE and disposal of infectious wastes. Follows OSHA regulations in bending, lifting, and using equipment, wearing and/or using safety equipment and supplies, and uses proper mechanics while performing duties (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc. when moving or lifting heavy objects). Keeps work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times. Refers to materials safety when necessary and follows policies governing the use of materials. Devel ops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, and other departments within Heritage, to assure that all functions can be properly planned and maintained to meet the needs of Heritage. Participates in programs designed for in-service education, on the job training and orientation classes. Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information Reports to work in compliance with work schedules, or as directed Demonstrates versatility and/or willingness to work beyond normal hours to cover various functions and shifts, working weekends, holidays, emergencies, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Drives Heritage vehicles for errands, transporting, or other uses as directed. Performs other job-related duties as requested by the Executive Director and/or to meet the needs of the residents and the facility.
