About The Position

Responsible for the culinary activities in the facility. Ensure quality and nutritionally appropriate meals are provided for patients, visitors and staff. Haverhill Pavilion Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a dependable and experienced Cook to join our dietary team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the health and comfort of our patients and staff through the preparation of high-quality, nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position, and flexibility is essential-our cooks rotate between the 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. shifts. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for preparing meals that meet both nutritional and regulatory requirements. Rate of pay is 19.50-23/hour.

Requirements

  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification - Required.
  • Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare, institutional, or commercial kitchen setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and dietary standards.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work both assigned shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, plan, and participate in the preparation and service of meals for patients and staff.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to dietary staff, ensuring high standards of performance, teamwork, and compliance with all facility policies.
  • Collaborate with the dietitian to ensure that all menus and meal plans meet patient dietary needs and align with physician orders.
  • Plan menu items and order supplies, maintaining adequate inventory levels while minimizing waste.
  • Keep accurate records and accounts as required for compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain departmental compliance by adhering to organizational health and safety policies, as well as all state and local regulations regarding food safety and sanitation.
  • Utilize the food service process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure high-quality, consistent food services.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, food storage, and equipment areas.
  • Support a culture of professionalism, reliability, and teamwork within the dietary department.
