About The Position

The Brattleboro Food Co-op is a community-owned organization with 50 years of history, committed to improving the quality of life for its community. The Cook position, within the Kitchen Department, reports to the Kitchen Supervisor/Food Services Manager. The purpose of this role is to prepare excellent quality food according to deli stock recipes in a timely, efficient manner, accurately follow production lists, actively communicate with deli staff and coordinator regarding production, assist in achieving departmental goals, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Reliable attendance
  • Food safety certified
  • Professional Cook experience 3-5 years practical application. Line work.
  • Able to work well in a team to achieve departmental goals
  • Interested in cooking and natural foods
  • English proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Prepare excellent quality food according to deli stock recipes in a timely, efficient manner
  • Accurately follow production lists
  • Actively communicate with deli staff and coordinator in regards to production
  • Assist in the achievement of departmental goals
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Maintain excellent customer service protocols
  • Preparation of all deli foods quickly and efficiently
  • Ensure high quality of products
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and equipment is well maintained
  • Maintain equipment
  • Follow safety policies and guidelines
  • Follow safe food handling guidelines and regulations
  • Become proficient in all sub departments of the deli
  • Cross train on counter, fill in as assigned
  • Participate in departmental and storewide meetings and trainings
  • Participate in quarterly inventories
  • Assist Member workers
  • Accepts responsibility for personal decisions and actions
  • Exemplify honesty, integrity and ethics
  • Monitor shrink
  • Utilize logbook, transfer log, shrink log
  • Ware washing duties as needed
  • Put away orders - follow receiving protocols IE: FIFO etc.
  • Accurately follow recipes and proper measurements
  • Maintain appropriate par levels of product
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Kitchen Manager/ Supervisor
  • Train staff
  • Plan and participate in cleaning projects as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned
