Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Must have a valid Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Two years’ experience and a cook or prep cook.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing food to be served complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards following established food production programs and procedures.
  • The cook is responsible for appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to ensure loss, waste, and fraud is minimized.
  • Prepares and present breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
  • Creates and posts daily menus.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean at all times; clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation, dishwasher, refrigerators, ovens, etc.
  • Keeps track of food and supplies inventory.
  • Prepares shopping list for purchasing coordinator.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures for quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests; when applicable.
