Requirements

• Working steadily in a kitchen where food is prepared in quantity to meet exacting schedules
• Operating kitchen and serving equipment
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Participate in food production
• Keep work environment neat and orderly
• Maintain good physical condition and personal cleanliness
• Work professionally with teams
• Read, interpret, and follow recipes and instructions
• Write legibly
• Work a minimum of one day per work week
• Lift 40 pounds
• Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the preparation of menu items at Preschool, Elementary, High Schools, K-12/ 3-12 buildings; preparation of vegetables; making sandwiches, salads, entrees etc (i.e. cooking).
• Performs a variety of tasks as assigned by the Senior Lunchroom Manager, related to the safe handling, preparation and service of food in a secondary lunchroom.
• Handle cash exchange in the form of the a la carte, vending machines, or point of sale.
• Operating kitchen and serving equipment such as ovens, warmers, hot and cold serving lines, dish machines, etc.
• Setting up serving counters and serving food; washing dishes and utensils; and cleaning equipment and areas.
• This person may act as cashier and may perform more responsible work, such as being in charge of a food serving unit or acting as a temporary substitute for higher level work.
• This employee also does related work as required.
