Requirements

  • Proven experience in food preparation or cooking, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
  • Ability to read and speak English to understand recipes, safety instructions, and communicate with team members.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks required in a kitchen environment.
  • Capability to follow detailed instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

  • Certification in food handling or culinary training.
  • Experience working with special dietary needs such as diabetic, low-sodium, or allergen-free meals.
  • Familiarity with healthcare facility protocols and patient-centered food service.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established dietary guidelines and menus.
  • Ensure all food is prepared safely and hygienically, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in planning and organizing kitchen activities to maintain efficient food production.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Communicate effectively with dietary staff and healthcare professionals regarding meal requirements and special requests.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as chopping, stirring, and plating food.
  • Climb stairs as necessary to access different kitchen or storage areas.
