About The Position

A cook prepares and serves food for hospital patients, guests, customers, and employees. The cook must follow prescribed diet orders, follow recipes, adjusts menu as needed for substitutions and follow safe food handling guidelines. The cook is responsible for unlocking/locking the department, recording temperatures, cleaning, and sanitizing their work areas, completing assigned responsibilities, helping with putting stock away and supervising department employees in the absence of the Nutrition Services Coordinator or Manager.

Requirements

  • ServSafe Certification within first 90 days of employment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • High school diploma or equivalent training or up to one year of related experience or training or combination of education and experience
  • Two plus years of experience in commercial food preparation and following prescribed diets
