About The Position

The Cook is responsible for ensuring that resident meals are properly prepared and apportioned according to the resident’s diet specifications, facility procedures, and prescribed dietary and sanitary regulations. This role involves preparing food items based on assigned menus, maintaining the sanitation of all equipment, utensils, work areas, storage areas, and serving areas, and adhering to proper food handling procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic methods.
  • Knowledge of Universal Precautions and rules that govern hazardous waste.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Texas Food Handler Certificate.
  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility.
