About The Position

This job was created to · Prepare food according to customers’ orders. · Prepare, cook and serve food · Maintains health standards · Insure food quality and portion control. · Insure a clean food service area. · Prepare raw ingredients for menu items (Prep). Capacities · Physical 1. Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to six (6) hours in length and to lift, bend, and stoop. 2. Position requires extensive standing. 3. Must have good sense of balance, be able to bend and kneel and have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. 4. Subject to wet and/or grease floors, cleaning chemicals, temperature extremes, and loud noise . 5. Must have a high level of personal cleanliness and a neat and tidy appearance. 6. Must possess good hand-eye co-ordination in-order to work with sharp knives and other kitchen tools. 7. It is a legal requirement that cooks have no illnesses that can be passed on through food. · Mental 1. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. 2. Be able to communicate clearly in English to staff and supervisors both in writing and orally. 3. Able to follow recipes and insturctions. Attitude 1. Up-beat and happy. 2. It is important for short order cooks to have a liking and respect for food and an appreciation of quality. Skills 1. Communication. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. 2. Math. Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations. 3. Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving and kitchen procedures. 4. Know about basic food preparation and cooking methods. Useful Experience 1. Work as a waiter, bakery work, or work in a catering or food business. 2. Some basic training through introductory cooking courses is useful. Required Training Must have completed training and receive certification from the Idaho Health Department with in 60 days of being hired. Daily tasks 1. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen. 2. Prepares raw ingredients for menu items. 3. May wash dishes. Prep cook washes their pots and pans after use. 4. Communicates with wait staff to maintain service efficiency and ensures guest satisfaction. 5. Arrange food on plates. 6. Cook food. 7. May devise new recipes with management.. 8. May order supplies of food and organize delivery. 9. May check in deliveries. Insuring correct temperatures and food quality. 10. Keep grill line stocked and clean. 11. Insure that every required task is done before next shift comes on duty. 12. Sweep and mop walk-in. Make sure everything is covered.
