About The Position

Weiser Memorial Hospital--rated as one of Idaho's best places to work--is looking to hire a full-time cook to join our team. Under the direct supervision of the Nutritional Services Manager, the cook will prepare, season, and cook food for hospital patients, staff, and visitors. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • One year of food service experience and/or institutional cooking experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in hospital food preparation preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignment.
  • Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension/expression
  • Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence.
  • Have or willing to obtain an Idaho Food Handler License

Nice To Haves

  • One year of food service experience and/or institutional cooking experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in hospital food preparation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follows recipes and prepares food according to standards for food services, catering, and patient food services
  • Determines food requirements and plan maximum utilization of food items
  • Preps and cooks food. Weighs and measures ingredients.
  • Maintains knowledge of therapeutic diets and patient room service guidelines
  • Puts food away in appropriate area, i.e. freezer, cooking area.
  • Works on schedule in a timely manner.
  • Keeps stock levels up and informs manager of stock deficiencies.
  • Responsible for food service area and patient food services if Food and Nutrition Services Manager is absent.
  • Maintains knowledge in regards to the Food and Nutrition Services Manager duties.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to co-workers, peers, and culinary staff.
  • Accepts assignments based on priorities, workload, and the qualifications and competencies of self and of other staff members.
  • Observes infection control practices at all times.
  • Maintains kitchen in a clean, neat and organized manner.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
