About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Cook to join our team! You will be preparing and cooking a variety of dishes for restaurant guests to enjoy. You are passionate about creating exceptional dining experiences through good, quality food. With previous experience as a cook, you are able to manage multiple priorities and contribute to a friendly and productive team atmosphere. Ideally, you have your ServeSafe or Food Handler’s certification. Kihei Caffe opened it’s doors in the Kalama Park Village Shopping Center in 1998. Located on the south shore of Maui the Caffe captures the ever laid back essence of Kihei Town. Our motto is simple - eat, talk, share, and eat some more! Kept simple over the years because that’s the way we like it. Our doors open at 5Am for all the early morning adventures to be had or if you need a quick cup of coffee before surfing. If you come around 8-10 AM there will be a small line that moves very fast as this is our rush hour. Take some time to get to know your neighbor in line; don’t worry the peak line only lasts 15 minutes but we’re just getting your bacon crispy. Grab a menu on your way in or use the screens located inside! Find a seat outside or head to our indoor seating area located two doors over - this area is great for children. One of our servers will be coming around and will call out your name the ol’ fashioned way so keep an ear peeled!

Requirements

• Previous experience as a restaurant cook preferred
• ServeSafe or Food Handler’s certification (or must be willing to attain)
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to lift 30+ lbs
• Ability to work standing for 8+ hours
• Must have current Hawaii Food Handler's Certificate

Responsibilities

• Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
• Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock
• Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
• Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience
• Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking
• Respond to guest feedback with appropriate urgency and professionalism
