About The Position

The employee participates as part of the Early Childhood Education Division to prepare and serve meals and snacks in accordance with USDA and MA Serve Safe standard. Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent obtained through accredited vocational or food service program.
  • Knowledge and skill obtained through a minimum of one year of work experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Current Serve Safe Certification
  • Skill in interacting appropriately with children, clients and staff.
  • Knowledge of USDA and local health and food service regulations.
  • All candidates must have a qualifying criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines and documentation procedures preferred
  • Driver’s license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Order foods necessary to meet menu offerings, portions and servings.
  • Organize and maintain food storage areas.
  • Schedule and prepare daily breakfast, lunch and snacks for program participants.
  • Provide invoices to program director.
  • Examine food for quality, expiration.
  • Log food and refrigeration temperatures to ensure appropriate food storage safety.
  • Maintain daily cleanliness and operation of kitchen equipment
  • Prepare foods in accordance with USDA and MA Serve Safe Standards.
  • Provide supervision for kitchen staff to include Agency Job Coaches and Individuals as needed.
  • Maintain a current list of student allergens and prepare an alternate meal if necessary.
  • Inspect dishes, silverware, pots, pans, etc. for cleanliness prior to storage.
  • Attend staff meetings, open house and parent events as required.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors for food and kitchen supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and required training sessions, including in-service training, as scheduled.
  • Maintain all program and Agency required trainings.
