The Cook is responsible for preparing and portioning various food items to the highest quality standards, including wrapping, labeling, and dating prepared foods for storage. This role involves receiving, storing, and rotating supplies, as well as preparing meals according to planned menus and checking food storage areas daily for proper rotation. The Cook must use and clean cooking and food preparation equipment, and is responsible for general and assigned sanitation duties in the kitchen and dining areas in compliance with health and safety regulations. Additionally, the Cook will orient, motivate, supervise, and evaluate employees within the production and kitchen components to ensure an efficient and effective department. Maintaining rapport with other departments to meet resident food service needs, ensuring confidentiality of resident information, and reporting exposures to the Director of Food & Nutrition Services are also key aspects. The position requires preparing food in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies, demonstrating a courteous and responsible attitude towards staff, residents, and visitors, working effectively with team members, and performing duties with little supervision. All responsibilities must align with safety and infection control policies and procedures, and reflect the BHCS mission, vision, and core values.
