About The Position

The Cook will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appetizing meals for residents of the skilled nursing facility. The Cook will work closely with the Dietary Manager to ensure that all meals meet the dietary requirements and preferences of the residents. The Cook will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and ensuring that all food safety standards are met. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a cook in a healthcare or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for older adults.
  • Ability to follow recipes and cooking techniques to ensure that meals are nutritious, appetizing, and visually appealing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and communicate effectively with residents and staff members.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals for residents of the skilled nursing facility that meet their dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Follow recipes and cooking techniques to ensure that meals are nutritious, appetizing, and visually appealing.
  • Work with the Dietary Manager to plan menus and ensure that all meals meet the nutritional needs of the residents.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of garbage.
  • Ensure that all food safety standards are met, including proper storage, handling, and cooking temperatures.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure that meals are prepared and served on time.
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking of food and kitchen supplies.
  • Provide input on the development of new menu items and recipes.
  • Participate in training and development activities as needed.
