About The Position

The Timber at Holly Branch is a boutique hotel located in Gatlinburg, TN. The hotel’s on-site restaurant, Stillhouse, offers a variety of casual dining options and drinks. This position will be based at Stillhouse, located within The Timber at Holly Branch. The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food items to established recipes and safety standards, maintaining clean and efficient kitchen operations, managing inventory and equipment, completing opening and closing procedures, and supporting the team to ensure an excellent guest experience. This is a part-time position with a mostly evening schedule. Free employee parking is available on-site!

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).
  • 1-2 years previous cooking experience (required).
  • Must be at least 18 years old (required).
  • Current valid ABC license, or willing to obtain within 60 days of employment (required).
  • Current valid ServSafe certification or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment (required).
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently to interact with guests, the public and other team members.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Interpersonal skills to provide overall customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb stairs, twist, kneel, climb, lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand and continuously move throughout the workday

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and plate food items using a Merrychef high-speed oven while following food safety and quality standards.
  • Follow approved recipes and programmed procedures to ensure proper portioning, presentation, and consistency.
  • Prep ingredients and garnishes as needed (washing, chopping, peeling fruits, vegetables, and herbs).
  • Set up and stock prep/service stations with required ingredients, packaging, and equipment.
  • Operate the Merrychef oven safely, selecting programs, monitoring cook cycles, and ensuring proper results.
  • Inspect ingredients and finished products for quality before and after service.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, storage, and product rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with Tennessee Department of Health food handling regulations.
  • Maintain proper food storage temperatures and complete daily temperature logs.
  • Complete opening and closing checklists; ensure the kitchen is ready for service and secured at shift end.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, workstations, and equipment throughout the shift.
  • Lead dishwashing and ware-washing duties.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance or repair needs to management.
  • Restock supplies and resolve routine operational issues as needed.
  • Maintain hotel standards of excellence in attitude, customer service, and job performance.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and training sessions.
  • Support team members and contribute to an efficient, positive work environment.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Complete other duties as assigned to ensure a quality guest experience.
