About The Position

Hotel Madison is looking for a skilled, full-time cook to prepare delicious meals according to the menu. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques, and fluency in knife work is also important. The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can expand our clientele in a fun, fast-paced environment. Teamwork is a must! Opportunities for growth.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a cook
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Exceptional communication skills, including oral and written communication
  • Excellent stamina
  • Ability to stand/walk for significant periods of time
  • Ability to move fingers and hands easily and quickly
  • Ability to lift/carry 25+ pounds
  • Customer Service: A friendly, relaxing, and respectful demeanor, courteousness, and quick service
  • Availability: Weekends required, must be available during summers and high-volume periods
  • Teamwork: Being a team player is essential to promote exceptional service
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English
  • Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Hotel Madison Standards.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, diploma from a culinary school preferred. On-the-job training may substitute for education.
  • Current ServSafe certificate is a plus!
  • Must possess ability to professionally represent the hotel and communicate positively with staff and guests.
  • Must be able to pass background check.

Responsibilities

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
  • Cook food with various utensils and grillers
  • Check food with cooking to stir or turn
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Monitor stock of goods
