About The Position

The INN Between provides employment with a purpose, ensuring that people who lack housing have a safe place to experience the end of life or recuperate from illness. The organization operates within core values of respect, kindness, honesty, compassion, and dignity. Cooks play a critical role as meals are a daily focal point. The INN Between seeks cooks who provide excellent customer service, are skilled, maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, can work in a fast-paced environment, are excellent collaborators, and have positive attitudes. This role involves being part of a team that prepares and serves three meals daily for up to 75 people and keeps the kitchen and dining room clean and organized.

Requirements

  • Food Handler’s Permit.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Pass State Department of Health DACS background check.
  • Pass a TB test and health evaluation (performed at our facility).
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build rapport with people.
  • Follow all our COVID guidelines, including the proper wearing of masks while on the property.
  • Carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Hearing/listening.
  • Manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Actively communicate with all parties in the workplace.
  • Willing to accept constructive feedback, without defensiveness, and in a spirit of learning and growth.
  • Actively listening for understanding before responding, thus reducing conflict and misunderstanding.
  • Actively contribute to a healthy workplace environment demonstrating concern, compassion, empathy, mutual respect, trustworthiness, and integrity for all human encounters.
  • Conflict resolution skills, committed to maintaining a highly engaging, healthy, and thriving workplace culture.
  • Absolutely no gossip in any form.
  • Health Evaluation performed by Director of Nursing, including TB test and review of all immunizations.
  • Must be current on vaccinations.

  • Food Safety Manager Certification
  • Experience working in a SNF or ALF

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals according to the approved menu.
  • Interact with residents, staff, and volunteers in a kind, courteous and cheerful manner.
  • Properly use all equipment and ensure that the dishwasher and sinks have sufficient chemicals.
  • Keep fridges, freezers, and pantries clean and free of outdated food.
  • Keep all dishes, utensils, equipment, food prep and food consumption areas are kept clean and sanitary.
  • Follow all Food Safety, Health Department and Assisted Living rules, regulations and guidelines.
  • Clean kitchen and dining room post meal service.
