Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of employment history.
  • Successful completion of First Aid training.
  • Successful completion of ServSafe Course.
  • Obtained Hepatitis A vaccination prior to handling food products.
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
  • Thorough knowledge of food preparation and cooking methods on a large scale.
  • Knowledge of the materials and equipment used in large-scale food operations.
  • Ability to read and write simple correspondence.
  • Capability to follow security and safety regulations.
  • Adaptive, initiative-taking, reliable, motivated, creative, and cooperative.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write reports and correspondence, and communicate effectively with various groups.
  • Ability to perform basic math operations and apply logic and understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to follow direction and accept supervision.
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and nutritional guidelines.
  • Coordinate daily menu by thawing and preparing frozen meats.
  • Ensure food quality meets specified standards and maintain accurate records for each meal.
  • Minimize food waste and utilize leftovers within mandated timeframes.
  • Assist with clean-up during and after meals, and properly store leftovers.
  • Prepare food for special events as requested.
  • Maintain daily logs for refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher usage.
  • Clean equipment, dishes, and work areas, including restocking and cleaning the cafeteria.
  • Report any equipment issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments to meet client needs.
  • Assist with tracking and communicating supply needs to the manager.
  • Provide input on menu planning, nutrition, and resident observations.
