About The Position

Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center (PSBHC) is an intensive inpatient psychiatric program for males and females, ages 11–17 years old. We offer a highly structured supportive and safe environment for children and adolescents who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, family, and social challenges.
Palm Shores is looking for a qualified full-time Cook to prepare and serve food to the patients at our facility. You will ensure good sanitary condition in cooking and line serving. The cook must be capable to prepare food following instructions while adhering to all safety and health standards. They must be competent and conscientious with a customer-oriented approach. The goal is to provide excellent food services by following instructions and standards.
WE OFFER:
Ability to work both shifts 5:30 am-2:30pm and 11am-7:30pm; schedule includes working some weekends
$17.50 per hour plus shift differential 3 pm - 7 am.

Requirements

• High school diploma/or equivalent; years of experience in like job may substitute.
• Must be able to clear a Level 2 Background in Healthcare and Pre-emloyment drug test.
• Experience: Food, restaurant, or institutional service is required, of which hospital dietary department experience is preferred.
• The ability to read and write in English is required.
• Employee has the ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and facility information. Has ability to understand and demonstrate appropriate boundaries between self, staff, and patients.
• Must be able to obtain Food handler permit (Safe Serve) upon hire.
• Good physical health and good mental attitude is essential. Stands and walks most of the day. Handles and manipulates equipment. Stoops and reaches for equipment lift and carries food and kitchen equipment. Must be able to lift and/or carry 50 to 75 pounds and withstand exposure to temperature and humidity changes as in entering refrigerated storage areas, working at ovens, ranges, meat slicer, food processor, dish-washing machines, and at steam tables. Tastes and smells food to determine quality.
