About The Position

The Laurel at Vernon Hills Memory Care, located in Vernon Hills, IL is seeking a passionate, professional, and customer-oriented Cook to provide an extraordinary dining experience for the residents in our community. Requirements

  • Possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one (1) year prior cooking experience is preferred.
  • Illinois Food Handle and SERV Safe certified preferred.
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language.
  • All candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check and a comprehensive reference check.

Nice To Haves

  • Illinois Food Handle and SERV Safe certified preferred.
  • A minimum of one (1) year prior cooking experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and service of quality meals for all residents including those with special diet needs.
  • Follows menu program or an approved substitute menu to ensure that nutritional needs and preferences of the residents are met.
  • Ensures plate presentation is attractive and appetizing for the resident population.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating special events for marketing and activities.
  • Continuously monitor and appropriately address resident concerns and preferences.
  • Adheres to proper food handling and sanitation guidelines.
  • Ensure residents are provided privacy, respect, and dignity.
  • Follows standard precautions and infection control procedures.
  • Completes state required training upon hire and annually.
