About The Position

The Laurel at Vernon Hills Memory Care, located in Vernon Hills, IL is seeking a passionate, professional, and customer-oriented Cook to provide an extraordinary dining experience for the residents in our community. Requirements
- Possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of one (1) year prior cooking experience is preferred.
- Illinois Food Handle and SERV Safe certified preferred.
- Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language.
- All candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check and a comprehensive reference check.
Nice To Haves
- Illinois Food Handle and SERV Safe certified preferred.
- A minimum of one (1) year prior cooking experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and service of quality meals for all residents including those with special diet needs.
- Follows menu program or an approved substitute menu to ensure that nutritional needs and preferences of the residents are met.
- Ensures plate presentation is attractive and appetizing for the resident population.
- Assist in planning and coordinating special events for marketing and activities.
- Continuously monitor and appropriately address resident concerns and preferences.
- Adheres to proper food handling and sanitation guidelines.
- Ensure residents are provided privacy, respect, and dignity.
- Follows standard precautions and infection control procedures.
- Completes state required training upon hire and annually.
