About The Position

Are you a passionate culinary professional seeking a purpose-driven role where your meals make a meaningful impact? At Embark Behavioral Health, we believe that food is more than nourishment—it’s a vital part of healing, connection, and care. We’re hiring a Cook to join our dedicated team in Bend, Oregon. Make a meaningful impact by preparing nutritious meals for youth ages 10–17 in our residential treatment program. We are a residential treatment program supporting youth ages 10–17 who are navigating behavioral and mental health challenges. Our family-style residence fosters connection, growth, and healing. Food plays a vital role in that journey—and that’s where you come in.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Must hold a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
  • Oregon Food Handler’s certification
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Must possess a valid State of Oregon driver's license, maintain a clean driving record, and be able to drive for work-related purposes
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Experience preparing healthy meals and accommodating dietary restrictions
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be physically capable of performing essential job functions, including crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques. Training will be provided.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year experience in a residential or institutional setting
  • Experience cooking for groups of 15+ people
  • Familiarity with youth care environments

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve nutritious, homemade meals, snacks, and desserts for 10–20 people daily, accommodating various dietary needs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and dining area, including dishwashing duties.
  • Follow all health department regulations for food prep, storage, and sanitation.
  • Build positive relationships with clients and staff through kindness, consistency, and professionalism.
  • Participate in mandatory trainings related to cooking, food safety, and behavioral health to support a safe and therapeutic environment.
