About The Position

The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking American-style food items, including but not limited to breakfast dishes, burgers, chicken tenders, French fries, and other menu items. This role requires adherence to food safety standards, quality preparation, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. Serve Safe Certification is required for this position. If not already certified, employees must attain their Serve Safe Certification within 30 days of hire. This position may be full-time or part-time, depending on the needs of the Riverside EpiCenter. This non-exempt position has recurring work duties critical to maintaining the quality and service standards of the Riverside EpiCenter's Culinary Services. Errors in judgment or neglect of duties could result in safety hazards, food waste, or negative guest experiences. Work priorities are determined by the Manager.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in a commercial kitchen or similar food service environment.
  • Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to prepare food to order in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality and accuracy.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including food preparation areas, cooking stations, and storage areas.
  • Ensure all food is prepared to high-quality standards, maintaining consistency and proper presentation.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols to comply with health regulations and Serve Safe standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or needs to the Manager.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and ensure proper maintenance and cleaning of all equipment.
  • Assist with food preparation for events and special catering needs as directed by the Manager.
  • Adhere to proper food storage procedures, including labeling, dating, and rotating stock.
  • Provide input on menu items or kitchen processes to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Assist in training new kitchen staff as directed.
