About The Position

Trinity Health in Shelby is searching for the best and brightest to join our team! Come join our team and we will provide you with on-the-job training for: Cook Nutritional Services in Shelby, hours vary 6:00 AM-6:30 PM. Cook (full time and part time, 1st and 2nd shift available) Position Summary: Hospital cooks have a unique role that combines culinary skills with healthcare needs. Key responsibilities include: Meal Preparation: Preparing a variety of hot and cold food items, including entrees, soups, and sauces, using standardized recipes. Dietary Compliance: Working closely with dietitians to ensure meals meet specific patient dietary restrictions and nutritional needs. Safety & Sanitation: Following Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines, along with federal, state, and local health regulations. Kitchen Operations: Operating and cleaning various kitchen equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring proper storage and labeling of food items. Customer Service: Serving food to patients and staff in an efficient and friendly manner and resolving customer concerns. Why Trinity Health? Requirements

  • 18 years of age
  • Required HS diploma or GED
  • ServSafe certified with in the 1st 90 days

Responsibilities

  • Processes room service orders
  • Interacts with patients and family members by order taking via the phone and inputting menu selections into the computer
  • Gathers, washes, & puts away dry dishes
  • Promotes positive customer service relations between Nutrition Services and Nursing units, patients, families, and all other people they meet.
  • Maintains knowledge of profession, safe food handling and sanitation
